NEW-BUILD TV SERVICES

Everything You Need for a Clean TV Installation

TV Wall Bracket Installation

We provide and install quality TV wall brackets suited to your television, wall type and the position you want your screen mounted.

The fixings we use will depend on the construction of your wall, including internal stud walls, solid brickwork and other common wall types.

Before any drilling begins, we will discuss the best position for your TV, taking viewing height, room layout and cable access into account so the finished installation looks neat and secure.

Hidden Cables

If you want a clean, uncluttered finish, we can look at suitable options for hiding the cables connected to your wall-mounted TV.

With 23 years’ experience installing TVs, we have a range of ways to route and conceal cables depending on the construction of the wall and the equipment being connected.

We will discuss the available options with you during the quotation process and recommend a practical solution that keeps the installation tidy while still allowing access where needed.

Aerial Installation

We install TV aerials and set up reliable Freeview reception for new build properties.

Whether your home has been pre-wired or needs a complete aerial system installed, we can connect and configure everything ready for use.

We can also check signal strength, aerial positioning and existing cabling to make sure your new home has a strong, dependable TV signal from day one.

COMMON NEW-BUILD TV PROBLEMS

A New House Does Not Always Mean a Finished TV Setup

One room works but another does not

Different TV points can have different signal levels because of cabling, splitters, terminations or how the distribution system has been connected.

Media wall built without TV fixing points

A finished media wall can make installation harder if suitable structural support was not included where the television needs to be mounted.

Pre-installed cabling needs finishing

New builds can include aerial, HDMI or data cabling that still needs connecting, terminating or tidying before everything works as intended.

TV points in the wrong location

The installed TV point may not match where you actually want the television, furniture or seating positioned in the room.

Full-motion bracket needs stronger fixing

Pull-out and swivel brackets place more leverage on the wall than a fixed bracket, so the fixing method needs careful assessment.

Bedroom TV has no connection

The main living room may be ready for television while bedrooms or other rooms have no usable aerial point where you need one.

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you mount a TV on a cavity wall?

Yes, although the correct mounting method depends on how the cavity wall has been constructed and what material forms the internal wall surface.

A cavity wall may have blockwork with plaster, dot and dab plasterboard or another internal finish. Identifying the construction allows suitable fixings to be selected so the television is supported by the structural wall rather than just the surface material.

How do I know if my wall is dot and dab?

Dot and dab walls are particularly common in newer UK homes. They normally consist of plasterboard fixed over blockwork with adhesive rather than timber studs.

The wall may sound hollow in certain areas when tapped, but this alone does not confirm the construction. An installer can check the wall before drilling and choose the correct fixings for the TV bracket.

Is it safe to mount a heavy TV on a stud wall?

Yes, provided the TV bracket is secured correctly to the timber or metal studs behind the plasterboard. Heavy TVs should not simply be attached to plasterboard using ordinary screws.

The position of the studs needs to be identified and suitable fixings used to transfer the weight into the structure of the wall. If the studs do not line up with the ideal TV position, alternative mounting or reinforcement solutions may also be possible.

Can you install a TV on a timber frame wall?

Yes. TVs can be securely mounted on timber frame walls when the structural timbers behind the plasterboard are located correctly.

The TV bracket can usually be fixed into these timbers to provide a strong mounting point. The installer will also consider cables, electrical wiring and pipework that may be concealed within the wall.

What is the best TV mounting method for a new-build home?

There is no single mounting method that works for every new-build property. New homes can contain timber stud walls, metal stud walls, dot and dab plasterboard and solid masonry walls, sometimes within the same property.

The safest approach is to identify the wall construction first and then select the appropriate bracket and fixings. This also gives you the opportunity to plan hidden TV cables, power sockets, aerial connections and equipment positioning before the television is mounted.

Can you improve a weak or breaking-up TV signal?

Yes. Pixelation, channels disappearing or intermittent signal problems can be caused by poor signal strength, damaged connections, unsuitable equipment or aerial positioning. We can test the signal and recommend the appropriate solution.

How much does TV wall mounting or aerial installation cost?

The price depends on the work required, including the television size, bracket type, wall construction, cable management and whether any aerial or additional TV point work is needed. Contact us with details of your new build property and the installation you require for a quotation.

Can an aerial be fitted after I have already moved into my new home?

Yes. A TV aerial installation can be carried out after you have moved in. We can assess the property, existing TV points and suitable aerial position with the aim of keeping the installation neat and unobtrusive.

Can you move an existing TV aerial point to a better position?

In many properties, yes. Existing aerial cabling can often be rerouted or an additional point can be installed so the television is positioned where it works best for the room.

Can you install a TV on a media wall?

In many cases, yes. The internal construction of the media wall needs to provide suitable fixing points and enough support for the television and bracket. We can assess the proposed mounting position before installation.

I’m worried my TV is too heavy for the wall. Can you check it first?

Yes. This is a common concern, particularly with larger televisions and plasterboard walls.

Before installation, the wall construction and proposed mounting position can be assessed along with the weight of the television and bracket. The appropriate mounting method can then be chosen before any installation work begins.
